Visit the most important historical and archaeological sites in the old capital of the Inca Empire. This City Tour is perfect for your first day in Cusco. It's a comfortable and interesting tour that combines history, architecture, and living traditions in a way that is unique.
- 1:00 p.m.: Pick up from the hotel and leave on a tourist bus: We will pick you up from your centrally located hotel for the start of our tour. A professional guide will greet you and tell you about the tour.
- 1:30 p.m. – Go to the Cusco Cathedral: This beautiful colonial building is in the Plaza de Armas. It has baroque altarpieces, paintings from the Cusco School, and impressive religious architecture on what used to be an Inca temple.
- 2:15 p.m. – The Temple of the Sun, or Qoricancha: The Qoricancha was the most important temple in the Inca Empire. The Spanish destroyed part of it and the Church of Santo Domingo covered it up. Here you will learn how the Inca and colonial worlds came together.
- 3:00 p.m. – Sacsayhuamán: An impressive archaeological site made up of huge stone blocks that fit together perfectly. You will be able to see all of Cusco from here. It is also the main stage for the Inti Raymi festival.
- 3:45 p.m. – Qenqo: An old ceremonial and ritual center with rock-carved mazes and altars where sacrifices were made. The site shows how much the Incas knew about astronomy and religion.
- 4:15 p.m. – Puka Pukara: A reddish military fort that served as a checkpoint and place for travelers and Inca royal entourages to rest.
- Tambomachay at 4:30 p.m: This place is a ceremonial water center with canals and fountains that still work today. It's called the "Baths of the Inca."
- 5:30 p.m. – Back to Cusco, the end of the tour: The tour ends with a return to Cusco's historic center, where you'll be dropped off near your hotel or at a central location so you can keep exploring on your own.
