We depart from Cusco for the highlands of Maras and Moray, enjoying a picturesque drive through the Sacred Valley. Our first stop is Moray, a set of circular agricultural terraces that the Incas used as an agricultural laboratory. Here, our guide will explain how these terraces allowed the creation of microclimates to experiment with different crops. The view from the top of the terraces is impressive and allows us to appreciate the ingenious Incan engineering.
Then, we continue to the Salineras de Maras, a complex of more than 3,000 salt pools that have been exploited since pre-Incan times. We will have the opportunity to walk among the pools and learn about the traditional salt extraction process. The landscape here is unique and offers excellent photo opportunities. After this fascinating visit, we return to Cusco, enjoying panoramic views of the Andean landscapes along the way.
